Musette's Look of the Week

Michelle Williams & Matilda Rose Melt Our Hearts

Musette's favourite famous mother, and her gorgeous girl make a day of it in New York. Matilda proves her own theatrical skills by making the always adorable Michelle laugh with what seems to be a lively story. Mother and daughter are suitably rugged up for the chilly day, and although Michelle looks fantastic, first prize goes to wee Matilda who wears a tweed blazer, stockings and a woolly hat oh so well.

Mum's the word this weekend.

Musette's How To: Love The Earth, Tip 4

A Missoni Must-Have: The OrphanAid Africa Bracelet
Motivated by a recent trip to West Africa, Margherita Missoni has teamed up with fellow fashion stars to make a difference to the children of Ghana. With jewelery designer Ileana Makri, Rachel Zoe, and husband and wife powerhouse Damon Dash & Rachel Roy by her side, Margherita has founded a line for OrphanAid, her most beloved charity. The collection's first item has been designed by Makri who sought inspiration from African textiles and created a bracelet made from silk, rose pink 18c gold, and pave diamonds, while incorporating OrphanAid's oval logo. This unique piece can be found at yoox.com, (Margherita's favourite online shopping destination) for a limited time, with the proceeds going to children at risk in Ghana. Giving back has never felt - or looked - so good.

Musette's Star Signs, 4.

Taurus
April 20 - May 20

You are a traditionalist who is never lacking in discipline or good taste. You have a creative eye, know what you like, and never stray from your own personal aesthetic. You do not follow trends and wouldn't be caught dead in a slogan tee or anything that has been made to look distressed. You love libraries, art galleries, heritage brands and Michelin star restaurants. Your friends consider you refined, reliable, and beneath your sometimes serious exterior, extremely loving. You are focused, sure of yourself, and guaranteed to get whatever you want out of life.

Musette's Television Trends, Episode 1.

Musette offers a chronological peek at some of television's cutest characters. With wardrobes that were reason enough to tune in, these four stars serve as perfect snapshots of their time. Remember your favourite hour of TV by effortlessly incorporating Marcia, Marisa, Denise and Kelly into your own look.

The 70's:
Marcia Brady of The Brady Bunch

No wonder every girl, including her own sisters wanted to be Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. She was the prettiest, perkiest, and most fashionable of the Brady Bunch. Marcia's floral shifts and golden 'do symbolise the very best of 1970's perfectionism.

The 80's:
Kelly Kapowski of Saved By The Bell

She put the KAPOW in Kapowski with her killer wardrobe and permanently hairsprayed fringe. Kelly embodied a sexy sort of girl next door by favouring skin tight garments that were wildly inappropriate for high school, but hey it was Bayside and somebody had to keep Zach Morris on his toes.

The 90's:
Denise Huxtable of The Cosby Show

As the wildest member of the Huxtable family, Denise gave us a look that was consistently fashion forward, never missing a beat or an opportunity to make-up only one eye. In a collection of clothes that were considered cutting edge for the time, something tells us that the too-cool Lisa Bonet had a little bit of say when it came to her character's wardrobe.

The Noughties:
Marissa Cooper of The O.C.

She may be the closest to our hearts, having reigned prime time the most recently. Marissa Cooper and the enviable costume department of The O.C. left us all yearning for days in the Newport sun, Chanel bags, and a loaded stepfather. Coop ruled this hit show by sporting Marc Jacobs and an equally badass attitude.

Musette's Star Signs, 3

Aries
March 21 - April 19

You are a bold beauty who possesses megawatts of energy and enthusiasm. Never one to tip-toe around an issue, you always get straight to the point. Your self-confidence crosses over magnificently to your own tastes, making you both brave and brilliant in the wardrobe department. Known for many an impulse buy, you can't seem to resist front row seats or new season Margiela boots. Outrageousness aside, you are a lovable leader with a very generous spirit.

Musette Spotlights: Claire Danes

Musette thinks Claire Danes is all class. Let's take a look at some of her standout performances.

Romeo's Juliet

Claire Danes was such an adorable Capulet that we couldn't even begrudge her a little face time with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1996 remake of Romeo and Juliet. The angel wings she donned during the famous balcony scene seemed to suit both the girl and her character perfectly.

Angst Ridden Angela

In the pilot of My So-Called Life Angela Chase claims, 'high school is a battlefield for your heart.' Claire Danes' breakthrough character could not have been more spot on. In the most true to life series the 90's brought us, teen girls everywhere couldn't help but relate to Angela's woes surrounding love and life.

Starlight, Starbright...
With bleached hair and bleached eyebrows, Danes gracefully transformed herself into a real life star - the type you find up in the sky. For her part in last year's whimsical Stardust, CD left her audience quite literally starstruck.

Our Chicest Shopgirl

As the fragile Mirabelle in 2005's Shopgirl, Claire Danes was undoubtedly the best dressed employee at Saks. So, she had to play Steve Martin's love interest, but her wardrobe was impeccable and in the end she finds true love with Jason Schwartzman - so every cloud certainly has a silver lining.

Musette Beauty File: Dolly Parton

"I'm not offended by dumb blonde jokes because I know that I'm not dumb. I also know I'm not blonde."

As a poor girl growing up in the Tennessee hills, Dolly Parton knew in her heart she would one day be famous. She had a penchant for make-up and hairspray, but also possessed a standout personality and an angelic singing voice. Dolly headed to Nashville during the 60's and soon after her arrival was being paid to write songs and perform on live television shows.

"It takes a lot of money to look this cheap!"

As hits such as Jolene and I Will Always Love You climbed the country charts in the 70's, Dolly Parton proved to the public there was a pure talent that accompanied her flamboyant style. Dolly has continued to stick with the rhinestones, peroxide and cleavage-bearing dresses that got her noticed in the first place. Throughout her huge success, Dolly has never once swayed from her original idea of glamor.

"Your laughter brings me sunshine, everyday is springtime..."

Today this cowgirl continues to wow the world, currently singing her way through the much anticipated Backwoods Barbie tour. There is no one else quite like Dolly, and she has served as inspiration to a generation of musicians. Here's to Dolly Parton, for being a bright ray of platinum sunshine in a sometimes gloomy world.

You are free spirited, idealistic and kind. Never afraid to speak your mind, you are one strong willed sister. You're well read and seek inspiration from the likes of Tennessee Williams and Bob Dylan. When it comes to fashion you are a true individual, setting the trends instead of following them. You dream of having been a part of the Free Speech Movement and attending Woodstock. You listen to folk music, believe in love, and always give peace a chance.

Musette Look of the Week

Margherita Missoni at a party for Paris Fashion Week

Miss Missoni is one heiress that never disappoints. As one of Musette's favourite Bright Young Things, Margherita always manages to make the most memorable fashion (under)statements. With a purely effortless style that leaves her looking pure, fresh & pretty in every picture, we can rest assured that the house of Missoni is in extremely capable hands. While other socialites feel the need to go all out every chance they get, MM has a gift of knowing when to keep it cool and calm. Here, Margeherita earns full points for both blazer and over sized specs.

Musette Fills The Gap

Escape from the stress of everyday life with some sweet & soothing activities.

LISTEN : LITTLE JOY
Look out for Little Joy, a charming new band which includes The Strokes' very own drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Named after a dive bar in LA, Little Joy specializes in fun and mellow harmonies, featuring Rodrigo Amarante as lead singer, as well as Fab's rumoured girlfriend - the very lovable Binki Shapiro.

DO : DECORATE

Take pride in your personal space by giving it a fresh lick of love. Revamp your room or living area with Diptyques and a bundle of fresh flowers. If you're after a drastic change, wallpaper your surrounds - for ideal results look into Prada's whimsical range at www.prada.com

WATCH : THE WACKNESS

Revisit your mid 90's youth with The Wackness. This unlikely love story centers around an outrageous therapist, a high school outcast, and the girl that breaks his heart. Highlights include Mary-Kate Olsen as a beautiful sort of burnout, and a soundtrack that is guaranteed to bring back some fond (?) memories.

BEAUTIFY : YOUR HAIR

Go on a give your hair a little face time. Maintain that mane of yours by trying an organic shampoo and conditioner, such as Origins Knot Free. Let the sun get some rays on it, and when in doubt never underestimate the classic cuteness of a braid. Change your hair, change your life!
